UPDATE: All lanes are back open as of 4:30 p.m.

A semi truck overturned and burst into flames Monday near downtown Louisville, killing one person.

It happened just before 12:30 p.m. on Interstate 65 near Jefferson Street. That's coming off the Kennedy Bridge from Indiana before you get to any exit.

Louisville Metro Police said that First Division officers responded to the crash in which they said the semi lost control, jackknifed and rolled over, catching fire.

Police say the impact caused part of the semi's cab to go over the side of the I-65 retaining wall there.

Debris from the crash fell onto the road below.

You can see a picture what that looked like below.

The driver was the only one in the semi, and they were pronounced dead on the scene.

Their name, age and gender have not been released at this time.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

The whole road was closed at the crash scene, and LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.

Drivers were asked to use the Second Street Bridge to get to Louisville from Indiana as an alternate route.

Traffic on the Kentucky side of the bridge was being diverted to Interstate 64.
