Westfield to host public hearing Thursday on truck terminal at Lockhouse Road

WESTFIELD — Trucking facilities, which have been controversial at other sites on the North Side in recent years, are back on the City Council and Conservation Commission agendas this month.

The Westfield City Council has scheduled a public hearing at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers during its May 18 meeting to discuss an application for a special permit, site plan approval and stormwater permit for a truck terminal and associated site improvements at 70 Lockhouse Road, submitted by Bek Realty LLC, Muradbek Usmonov, owner.

On April 25, Rebecca Li of R. Levesque Associates presented a notice of intent for the Lockhouse Road project to the Conservation Commission, as a portion of the proposed work is located within the wetlands buffer zone of an intermittent stream. The site is northwest of the intersection of Arch and Lockhouse roads, according to the application. The Conservation Commission's deliberations were continued to May 9 to schedule site visits by commissioners, and then continued again to May 23.
