SAN ANTONIO - A tank has fallen off of a flatbed truck and landed on I-10.
The incident was reported at around 4 p.m. on Sunday, near the Wurzbach exit.
Theself-propelled artillery piece, tentatively identified as a M109 Howitzer, was not part of a military convoy, and there were no uniformed military personnel at the scene.
Mission Wrecker San Antonio is leading the recovery of the vehicle and has confirmed they have been in communication with officials from Camp Bullis.
C&T Trucking has confirmed that they are aware of the incident, and are working closely with Mission Wrecker and Camp Bullis officials.
The ongoing recovery has created a significant traffic issue, with I-10 being reduced to one lane at Wurzbach. It is unknown how long the recovery of the vehicle will take, and how long traffic issues will persist.
