ARMSTRONG COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) — Police say a Shippenville woman was involved in a tractor-trailer crash that occurred along Route 66/28 in Rayburn Township, in Armstrong County.

According to a report released by PSP Kittanning on Wednesday, August 28, the crash took place on Hankey Lane, in Rayburn Township, Armstrong County, around 4:17 p.m. on August 13.

Police say a 2013 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by 40-year-old Alvin C. Smith Jr., of West Alexander, was turning south onto State Route 66/28 from Hankey Lane, when a 2014 Dodge Caravan operated by 68-year-old Vonne E. Ziegler, of Shippenville, traveled around the turn, causing Smith to turn his semi-truck sharply into the guide rail.

According to police, a large piece of guide rail was lodged under the tractor-trailer’s axle, causing it to be immovable.

Fire department personnel on scene were able to cut away enough guide rail so the tractor-trailer could be moved off the roadway, police say.

No injuries were reported, and the tractor-trailer did not need to be towed.

Both drivers were using a seat belt.

Smith was issued a traffic warning, according to police.
