Police chase ends with a truck crashing into a fence, driver arrested

CHICO, Calif. - Chico Police arrested a man who had several outstanding warrants after a pursuit ended with the driver crashing into a fence early Wednesday morning.

Chico Police told Action News Now that the first officer tried pulling over the driver, Ryan Rash, near East 20th Street and Highway 99 around 12:30 a.m.

The pursuit ended soon after when the truck crashed into a fence and a tree and stopped on the lawn outside of a home on Parkway Village Dr. in Chico.

Police discovered Rash stole the trailer that was attached to the truck from somewhere on the other side of town.

An officer on scene told Action News Now that the owner of the trailer didn't know it was stolen until police notified him, and he walked outside of his home to see his trailer was gone.

Officers also found out that the truck belonged to a friend of Rash.

Rash was arrested without incident or injury; no one inside the home was injured.
