Names Released in Sanborn Co. Crash

LETCHER — A Letcher man has been identified as the person who died last Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle crash two miles east of Letcher in Sanborn County.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, preliminary crash information indicates that a 2019 Hyundai Sonata was driving westbound on 241st St. A 2005 Peterbilt semi-truck pulling a flatbed trailer was driving eastbound on 241st St. The Sonata crossed the center line and collided with the semi-truck at 9:03 p.m.

The driver of the Hyundai Sonata, 46-year-old Jason Mathew Price of Letcher, died at the scene of the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The 19-year-old driver of the semi-truck, Carson Thomas Fahey of Mitchell, sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

South Dakota's Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
