6 Vehicle Crash On Missouri River Bridge Involves Beer And Cows

The Missouri River bridge near Columbia faced major delays due to a crash involving a pickup, loaded cattle trailer, and four other vehicles.

Westbound lanes of I-70 had to be closed, and eastbound traffic was down to one lane. The incident, which occurred around 11 a.m., caused frustration as crews worked tirelessly for hours to clear the area. Eventually, the highway reopened at 3:45 p.m.

Wrecker crews worked through the afternoon to untangle and remove the vehicles involved in the crash.

The cattle from the hauler had to be unloaded before it could be moved out of the way, causing other cows in the traffic jam to overheat.

To cool down the animals, nearby firefighters were called in to spray them down. Meanwhile, wrecker crews are working on removing the tangled vehicles involved in the crash.

The other tractor-trailer was carrying pallets of Bud Ice beer, which spilled onto the bridge deck and likely into the water below.

Traffic on I-70 was backed up for 13 miles in the eastbound lanes and seven miles in the westbound lanes. The situation is being handled by emergency crews, who have yet to confirm any injuries resulting from the crash.
